The foggy world is a decayed, run-down alternate version of Silent Hill controlled by Alessa Gillespie. All of the buildings and cars are old and battered, the sun never breaks through the fog, and ash continuously rains down from the sky. There is a constant layer of ash and dust over everything. The foggy world seems to symbolize Alessa's emotions from before the burning- fear, pain, loneliness, etc. A set of air raid sirens will sound every few hours, signaling the falling of the dark world and the shifting of the dimensions.
