Cybil in the Silent Hill Movie

Cybil Bennett is a decorated member of the Brahams Police, who saved a boy who had been dropped down a mine vent three years before. Her character is played by Laurie Holden. According to Laurie Holden,

"Cybil is a woman who grew up in Brahms which is a small town outside of Silent Hill. She's a bit of a lone wolf, in the sense that her mom died when she was thirteen and there was never really a father around. Brams was a very religious community, so I think that because my mother was such a woman of faith and she passed away in a really painful way, it really scarred Cybil. And she's really kind of denounced any sort of religion just because of what happened to her mom. So because of that I think that she's been a bit of an outsider, doesn't have a lot of friends. But that's okay for Cybil because she's found her calling and that is to serve and protect. And, really, she wants to save children. And there are different things that have happened in her conventional life with marriage and kids. She wants to be kind of like the mother of saving the children. So that's Cybil."

Cybil catches sight of a crying and frightened Sharon Da Silva, and becomes suspicious of Sharon's mother, Rose Da Silva. When Cybil attempts to speak to Sharon, the child tells her she doesn't talk to strangers and rolls the window up in her face. Cybil then attempts to ask Rose if everything is ok, but Rose brushes her off with a stern "We're fine" and gets into her car. As Rose and Sharon drive off, Cybil copies down Rose's license plate and presumably runs the tags.

Cybil later stops Rose on her way to Silent Hill, but the distressed mother speeds off; leaving Cybil to give chase. Cybil crashes her motorcycle at some point during the chase and wakes up in an alternate dimension. When she finds Rose, she quickly arrests her and attempts to take her into custody. On her way out of the town, Cybil discovers that the world literally ends in a giant chasm that drops down into nothingness. Left without a choice, the two women then attempt to leave town by means of a route past Toluca Lake, but they are ambushed by the Armless Man. Cybil kills the monster, but discovers more of them heading towards her.

Later, Cybil appears in the dark world version of Midwich Elementary School, where she drags a crying and frightened Rose to safety in a small closet area. Cybil and Rose fight off the Red Pyramid Thing, ending in the dimensions shifting and the foggy world being reinstated. The two women leave the school and proceed to the Grand Hotel.

Cybil and Rose are eventually taken to the town's church by a mentally retarded woman named Anna, who was found living in the alternate realms. Inside the church, Cybil is harshly judged by Christabella, the leader of the cult. Christabella takes Rose and Cybil to Brookhaven Hospital, where Christabella exclaims that the women are witches who must be destroyed. Rose escapes into the elevator, but Cybil remains to fight off the fanatical cultists.

Cybil is badly beaten by the cultists, and is then taken to the church; where she offers some words of comfort to the frightened Sharon before being burned alive.

Silent Hill

Cybil Bennett (voiced by Susan Papa[1]), is a police officer from the town of Brahms, and is Harry's ally in the game.

Cybil is first encountered during the opening credits, as the motorcyclist who overtakes Harry's Jeep; further into the credits, Harry passes her motorcycle on the side of the road, it has been badly damaged and abandoned.

Harry Mason doesn't have to wait long to meet her in person - she is the first person he sees when awaking from his "dream" in the Cafe. She hands him her gun to protect himself, despite her maintaining she cannot see any of the towns monsters.

She later becomes possessed and fights Harry in a "boss" battle in the amusement park; her fate depends on the actions of the player at this point, and will effect the ending of the game. If spared, Cybil will appear in the final battle area. In bad+ ending, Cybil regains consciousness after the final boss fight. She walks over to Harry, slaps him to shake him out of his grief, and tells him to "go", as the Otherworld is crumbling arounds them. If the player is awarded the good+ ending, Alessa gives Harry a newborn baby and points towards an escape. Cybil will follow Harry through the light, which transports them out of the Otherworld.

On receiving the Good+ ending, the opening sequence changes to show Harry discovering the abandoned baby with Cybil, rather than his wife. Despite this, Cybil does not appear in Silent Hill 3 and Officer Wheeler in Silent Hill: Homecoming mentions that she went missing in Silent Hill. It's possible that Cybil decided to go into hiding from The Order like Harry did.

In the Book of Lost Memories, Silent Hill writer Hiroyuki Owaku stated that what happened to Cybil after the events of SH1 is "left to players' imaginations". [2]
