..:::Birth of Heather:::..
*Translated by Makube*
We
get questions like "how come this time you made the main character female?" quite often in magazines
and other things like interviews and also in this webpage's FAQ too. Truthfully, we did not expect this because
we didn't make it a big important decision when making the main character a girl. A joke-sounding serious reason
would be "it's because we got tired of middle-aged men." Of course as a result, we chose the main
character to be female because it will have a more complicated sequence of events, that's where the root is. In
order to make the story of SH1 and SH2 have a very lonely atmosphere and so that we could put feelings into the
user easily, we chose the main characters to be around 30-year old men. So then when we were deciding about the
main character of SH3, we found that it would certainly be like a failure if we went and said "ok, do it
again" and made the same sort of main character as before and did the "same as before". We thought
about these things seriously while in the making and found them quite boring. We were also afraid that the users
would find it too similar of an atmosphere and therefore boring. That is why we decided to change it this time. At
first we were thinking of having an old man or old woman. Personally, I like a "strong mother"-like person
who would say "I'm Wachowski." With that in mind, the result was, with considering battle with enemies,
etc. Heather being born. Even scenario-wise, we wanted to illustrate a hero different from 1 and 2 when it came to
attacking and progressiveness. When she uses swear words or jokes it seems like it matches her but at the same time
it doesn't.
