There they confront the source of her seeming delusions… and find themselves trapped in a realm of very real and unspeakable terrors!

Forced to confront the murderous ghosts of his own dark past, will Troy find redemption, damnation, or both? And who is the demon-child Christabella really after? The mystery deepens as this blood-chilling tale continues.

#3
What could be more fun than a journey to a mist-enshrouded town where evil lives, monsters are real, and arcane messages hold the key to immeasurable wealth and power? For seventeen year-old Lauryn and her Goth friends, this Hell seems like Heaven… until the demon-child Christabella arrives! The shocking fate of Troy Abernathy is revealed and the stakes of terror are raised as the spine-chilling tale continues.

#4
Will it be survival of the fittest—or the most ruthless—as the demon-child Christabella and her Goth sister Lauryn go to war? The monster-filled streets of Silent Hill become a battlefield as startling revelations are made and the souls of a dozen innocents face damnation and worse. The explosive action and mind-rending horror continues as the tale builds to its shattering climax.

#5
What would you sacrifice to gain absolute control over your own destiny? The lives and souls of those who love and trust you? The future? A war rages in the demon-infested town of Silent Hill, where seventeen year-old Goth Lauryn must make a decision that may forever alter the course of this unholy place—and one day loose Hell itself upon the world. Don’t miss the incredible action and chilling terror of the miniseries’ conclusion..

IDW Publishing Brings Video Game to Comics with Konami’s Silent Hill.

San Diego, CA, December 5, 2003. IDW Publishing has teamed with Konami, one of the world’s most successful video game companies, to produce comics based on the huge hit video game Silent Hill.

To bring this extremely popular and horrific video game to a brand new medium, IDW has called on the services of some established masters of terror. Writer Scott Ciencin is the New York Times bestselling writer of more than 60 novels and many comics. Ben Templesmith, horror veteran of 30 Days of Night and Dark Days, among others, supplies the art for the first two issues of Ciencin’s story. On Templesmith’s heels comes Aadi Salman, a relative newcomer who will bring a fresh approach and an outstanding, original style to the series. Covers are by Ashley Wood, whose Popbot, art books, and many covers for IDW Publishing are well known.

“As video game fans ourselves, IDW knows just what the legion of Silent Hill devotees are looking for in a comic,” says IDW Vice President and series editor Kris Oprisko. “Scott’s script, as well as Ben and Aadi’s art, perfectly captures the terror and foreboding of Konami’s video game masterpiece.”

Accumulated sales for the Silent Hill video game series have been marked at 4,000,000 units worldwide, making it one of the bestselling games on the market.

Silent Hill: Dying Inside #1, available in February, is a 32 page, full color comic book with a retail price of $3.99.

IDW Publishing has provided The Continuum with a five-page preview of Silent Hill: Dying Inside #1, the first issue of a five-issue mini-series that launches in February. The issue is written by Scott Ciencin, with art by Templesmith.

Here's how IDW describes the book, which is based on Konami's video games:

"Welcome to Silent Hill, a mist-enshrouded, nightmare town tht will tear your soul apart.

"In the five-issue mini-series Dying Inside, readers will be treated to two complete (and interlocking) tales of high-octane horror by Scott Ciencin. Issues one and two, illustrated by Ben Templesmith, focuse on Doctory Troy Abernathy, an arrogant psychiatrist with a horrifying secret, and his patienct, Lynn DeAngelis, a young woman who once escaped this town with her life (if not her sanity)... and footage of the monstrosities who reside in Silent Hill and seemed to be controlled by the demon-child Christabella.

"In a blazing, action-filled storyling that is rich in characterization, Troy's inner ghost nightmarishly come to life -- and it is up to Lynn to save them both. The double-barreled action and fear keep right on going in issues three through five, illustrated by newcomer Aadi Salman, as the wild teenage goth Lauryn and her friends are drawn to Silent Hill by Lynn DeAngelis' 'lost' footage.

"A mystery has been found in those shadowy images, a dark lure promising untold power and wealth ... or so Lauryn tells her goth friends. But the truth is far more terrifying, especially when Lauryn produces a black book of very arcane spells and uses it to take on Silent Hill's unyielding legion of monstrosities and the twisted demon-child Christabella".

IDW Publishing has joined with Konami, one of the biggest international video game companies, to bring the psychological horror of the video game Silent Hill to comic books.

IDW plans to begin publishing Silent Hill comics at the end of 2003 and early 2004 in various formats. According to the publisher, it will work closely with Konami and "to ensure that the Silent Hill comics will maintain the same air of anything-can-happen suspense and outright terror that have made the games so popular."

"When the first two Silent Hill games were released, I played them straight through without stopping, and I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the third game in the series. I think the world of Silent Hill is a natural for comics and I'm very happy that IDW Publishing is going to get chance to work with Konami on developing them," said Ted Adams, publisher of IDW. "We very carefully choose the companies we want to work with and Konami has been on our short list since day one."

Kaz Nirasawa, International Product Manager for the Konami Corporation, added, "Konami is very excited and pleased to have IDW develop a Silent Hill comic."

Accumulated sales for the Silent Hill video game series have been marked at 3 million units worldwide.
